Zimbabwe

The first Zimbabwe Population-based HIV Impact Assessment (ZIMPHIA) was conducted between October 2015 and August 2016.

Survey teams visited over 11,000 households to interview participants and provide HIV counseling and testing.

In 2019, a second ZIMPHIA survey was launched by the Ministry of Health to assess the country’s progress towards HIV epidemic control. The ZIMPHIA 2020 survey visited over 10,000 households.

Over the past four months, a familiar refrain was heard throughout the cities, towns, and villages of Zimbabwe. The ‘Knock Knock’ song, which was instrumental to the success of the first Zimbabwe Population-based HIV Impact Assessment (ZIMPHIA) survey,  heralded the new survey and with the message of a new chance for the country to take stock of what has been achieved towards controlling its devastating HIV epidemic.
